MATHEMATICS DEPARTMENT

NAIBEI. (H.O.S MATHEMATICS DEPARTMENT)

It is another moment that I am delighted to contribute once again this years’ edition. As the mathematics department, we are very happy for the support that we continue to receive from the administration. Truly, the activities that we continue holding in this school wouldn’t have been a success were it not the unwavering support from the school.

As the head of subject, I have seen new strategies that have been collectively adopted and the old ones improved and this has gone down to inject vigor in the subject. We were glad to hold our fifth edition of BARICHO MATHEMATICS CONTEST that has now gained popularity in the region and even beyond. We are glad that this year, we were able to attract a number of sponsors for the contest. It’s a programme that brings a lot of positive improvement in the subject.

We applaud the new administration under the able leadership of our principal Mr. J. KURIA for the material and moral support of the club. As department, we have come up with strategies that have gone a long way to eliminate the long tail that we normally encounter in the nationally. It is not lost to us, that we have always posted quality grades as tabulated below, however our mean grade hence mean score is dealt a great blow by the weight of the long tail as a result of the poor students. Therefore, this year, our major focus has been of the low achievers. With this in place, we are very optimistic that we will post the best mean score as a subject this year.

I want to thank all the members of this subject for their dedication to make this subject the most exciting of all.
